Massive shout out to our sponsors who help make the derby happen!
Big thanks to The Kensington Tavern, for their sponsorship and providing a great venue for our after parties and end of year events!
Back in Motion
Thanks to Back in Motion Physio, for strapping our skaters before games and helping us stay injury free inbetween!
What would kids do without Happy Hire at our bouts? They provide a great bouncy castle and also their sound system - thank you so much!
The Bold (thebold.nz) have been super helpful with getting this new website up and running - thanks guys!
Campbell And Sons
Campbell and Sons have been kind enough to become our printing sponsor! That means any DD fliers, posters etc you see have been kindly printed thanks to the team at Campbells. Thank you!
Who can join roller derby?
Anyone! One of the great things about Derby is that there is a place for everyone. You don't need to have a certain body type or fitness level (our new-skater training will help you get fit!). Whether you join us as a skater, referee or official - there's a place for you. As a WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association) league, bouting skaters must be at least 18 years old and identify as women, men can referee or officiate. Younger skaters should definitely still get in touch as we have options for you, too!
What kind of training do the skaters have?
Each skater goes through Freshmeat training. They have to pass a minimal skills test and achieve 27 laps of the track in 5 minutes!
Once you graduate Freshmeat and join the league, we have two league trainings per week, plus one team training if you're on a squad.
